Glad to see you had a great time in BCN and you made good use of your Avios 👍🏻 I'm personally not a fan of the 50p price point BA offers but that's just because I'm old fashioned and prefer the £17.50 option (that's the old pricing and it's a subjectively better value in terms of pence per point)

I tried a couple of flights in the PA-38 and couldn't get used it it after 36 hours in C--172 (in the US in 1998). Didn't continue lessons when I got back to Liverpool and have one flown 25 hours in a PA-28. Spent all last year doing ground school. Don't know if you're aware but 2 years ago, they changed the format and now you have to study each book. Even then, they thrown in questions that aren't even in the books (and I graduated in aerospace engineering!). I wrote to the CAA regarding my Air Law exam and they said 'yeah, that is an ATPL question - but it doesn't change the result'!

Any idea what's happening with G-RVRO? I've a special connection with that A/C as I went solo in her in 2008. I check that she is still flying every now and then but it looks like she may not be in service any more as theres no record on Flight Aware for a long time.

This may have been a hard day for you but I restarted flying last year after a 22 year hiatus. Flew 36 hours in the US with 5 hours solo. Have done 25 hours in a PA-28 (so far, in Liverpool) where I perfected my landings then transitioned to a PA-38 but only did 1 hour before stopping flying until I passed all my ground school. Problem is, life caught up with me and all my business trips and work/studies meant my flying has stalled (excuse the pun). That said, my last flight was to Hawarden and it was an utter disaster. My instructor jumped in the cockpit and said "Right. Take me to Hawarden (where I've been twice before - but never as the 'lead'). I screwed up one thing after another and after three days of being pissed off, I sat down and wrote what I did wrong followed by a list of corrective measures. The root cause of the problem was, I should have treated it like a mini-cross country and had all the frequencies and VRPs at hand. I haven't flown for 10 months now and won't until I complete my ground school exams. As an aerospace engineer, I insist on studying everything and not just to pass the exam so it's taking forever.
